Over the past three days I have been attending the Asia Pacific Association for International Education or APAIE conference: https://www.apaie2018.org/. This year it was held in Singapore and had over 2200 attendees from this region as well as elsewhere around the world. This year it was held in Singapore and had over 2200 attendees from this region as well as elsewhere around the world .
The conference was well-organized, as one would expect here in Singapore. It was held at the Convention Center, Marina Bay Sands Hotel complex. I am already looking forward to attending next years conference in Kuala Lumpur.
I had never been to this conference before and was invited to give a talk on DKU as part of a panel on English-language higher education opportunities in Asia.
The great boon of this conference was being able to meet and talk with representatives from dozens of universities and other organizations around the world that run study abroad and exchange programs.
Since this will be my role in the near future, directing DKU’s Study Abroad Office and building and supporting both inbound and outbound study abroad programs, the conference gave me and DKU a great head start towards building connections and also ideas on programs that we can set up for our undergraduate students in the future.
