This is my first effort at a podcast rather than a blog. I produced this while I was lying in bed and thumbing through a Beatles Discography called All Together Now. In this ramble I focus on five albums: Introducing the Beatles, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road. I start the ramble by going backwards through the albums (the Backwards Beatles Project) and then move forward from the first to last. I end with a somewhat longer discussion of Abbey Road and why I think it’s the best Beatles Album. I compare the album to Dante’s classic works and to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony—I will let the listener judge whether or not these comparisons and analogies hold water. I also discuss the theme of love that courses through all of their music and some other transcendent themes as well.
